I didn't say that. I'm really sad that USA can get a debt of this size - I guess this shows the importance of teaching history to the population. If the population doesn't know how bad things can get, they don't see the signs on the road.

When Denmark started to something about its debt, the press was full of messages that the country was heading towards a disaster.

At that time, our debt problem was smaller than the current problem in USA, and I don't see how USA can increase oil or gas production significantly, like we did.

So, USA's exports have to increase and imports have to be reduced. At the same time, oil production falls in USA, so I guess we'll see a significant fall in oil consumption in USA, no matter what.

Since Americans are the least likely to give up on cars, I assume that this means that USA will find alternative energy sources, which are available inside USA. I don't believe corn based fuel has a future, so I guess solar cells, 2nd generation biofuel, wind energy, wave energy, salt power etc. will see a significant growth in USA.

I have stocks in Vestas, a skilled wind mill producer, and Novozymes, which can grow on 2nd generation biofuel (where the waste part of the plants is used as fuel). In the very long run, I have most trust in using biological processes to convert energy in nature into fuel. Humanity is learning a lot about biology right now, which is useful for this purpose.

Imo, a new president in USA has to take measures to reduce imports and increase exports, reduce obesity, less Chinese imports in Wallmart, less barbecue, fewer humvees, more vegetables, more international business, more exercise, more international cultural exchange, and more research in alternative energy (production, storage and transport). Military operations only done in cooperation with others, who pay their share.

But I guess most Americans disagree with me :-)
