We have a near trillion dollar current account deficit -- we must really like those "trinkets". I am curious -- have you ever been to any of the places you think make these "trinkets"? Have you ever seen the factories, the universities, or the cities that dwarf even the largest of US cities? Have you seen the gleaming new urban infrastructures? The airports? The maglev trains? The interstate freeways? The R&D labs? The foreign high tech clusters? You think our imports are "trinkets"? You are a very funny guy who must lead a very, very sheltered life.
