Re: "it has been researched to death."

Apparently you are living in some kind of a fantasy land where whatever you imagine is 'actually true'....

Hugh, you statement above is not only false (blatant, totally unsupported hyperbole)... but I have ALREADY suggested that we (jointly, if you prefer) source some ACTUAL EVIDENCE for this --- which suggestion you have simply ignored.

I'll repeat it, however:

What can you point to to illustrate your contention?

(For example: How many research proposals have been made? How many ultimately approved? How long did the process take? What are the comments from the affected medical researchers and the federal agencies - DEA, FDA, etc. ?)

I know that the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences has spoken out... (as has, in a quieter voice, the FDA, JAMA, etc.)

Suggest drugpolicy.org would be a good place to start to collect the evidence, (believe that Cato.org also has a pretty comprehensive collection of government drug policy facts also)... but, if you've got a better place you'd like to suggest we start at for the facts, then suggest away, Hugh!
