Once again neolib AKA ear2earfeces has serious dementia on display. Heating logically is equivalent to not cooling. Modulating convection describes a process of containing heat or releasing heat. It is not in anyway conflating heating and cooling.

First junkscience.com explains the true mechanisms of heating in a greenhouse and accuratly describes the true modulation of the heating mechanism. It is not predominately caused by infrared radiation. It is caused by the absorbtion of solar radiation that contain just about no infrared spectrum aborbed by CO2. The hot surfaces conduct heat predominately by convective conduction to the air and that heated air is trapped within the green house.

As I said before "What is confusing about that summary? It is very accurate." It is only confusing to idiots.

The point remains, the mechanism and equations governing heating in a greenhouse and in the earth's atmosphere are essentially the same, and they are radiation based, not convection based.

I think the point was that a real greenhouse loses heat by convection as well as radiation, the earth does not, except perhaps for the very small loss and gain of the atmosphere. By your definition all gases are greenhouse gases, but many do not asorb radiant heat or not well, but all gain and lose heat by convection and conduction.
