"Going green is to be supported as an act of piety, and only evil people point out the costs of acts of piety.

Once you understand the mindset, the nature of the argument will become much clearer to you."

So is Kyoto supposed to be like buying indulgences?

Very nicely articulated . Is it yours?

They will only get mad at you because it's not about numbers. It's about virtue. Going green is to be supported as an act of piety, and only evil people point out the costs of acts of piety.

Once you understand the mindset, the nature of the argument will become much clearer to you.

Nadine, you and I have seldom agreed on anything, but I've always respected your intellect, esp. your ability to quickly pull up facts and figures to argue your position.

But this comment, which I assume was directed at me, is surprising. It's something I would expect to hear from a right wing talk show.

All I can say is that alternative energy and 'going green' (they aren't necessarily the same thing always) are a growth industry with wonderful investment opportunities......no different from the change from horses to automobiles.

Even if you reject environmental considerations, there's much to love....esp. with solar. It's efficient, flexible, quiet, renewable, and is becoming cost effective as oil and natural gas continue to rise in price.
