I can vouch for that statement. Up in N.MN, everyone's grandparents were immigrants. I though a normal part of the aging process was your hair turned white and you started talking in an accent. One of my buddies everyone called Wop. Well into the 80's a meat ball sandwich with marinara sauce was called a hot dego. Then some lawyer from NYC came to town, took one look, got on the phone to the bureaucrats in St Paul, and every menu in the state changed overnight.
