I think he was looking ahead.....you know like maybe at 'peak oil' and $100/barrel prices.....both of which just might impact the profits of the chemical industry a little....lol!

Looking ahead, as in anticipating, or envisioning, or sensing change in the air......something the reptilian brain structure of right-wingers have a hard time with.

You're wrong about China. You're looking backward again at former communist countries with state-run economies. China is a hybrid......we've never seen anything before like it. It's a market economy with an authoritarian government structure.

Authoritarian doesn't have to mean totalitarian or fascist. But it does set the stage for rapid decision-making and a more efficient allocation of resources than does the 'messiness' of a democracy.

It's why I think China will outstrip democratic India economically.
