It seems typical in so many communities. People move into a house, and immediately want to change it. Ditto with the community they liked before they bought in, and then they want to change it.

Years ago, we went back to my husband's home town in the East, and he was saddened to see it so shabby and not taken care of (this was in the 70's)... He talked to his Aunt about it, and she reminded him of the old story by Wolfe "you can never go home again"...

We all know we can go back "home" but we can't take our rememberances with us, and want to change back. We can change our future, but it's pretty hard to change everyone else into your version of the future to match the past.
