I suppose because it was recently noticed. There are clearer examples of primate hookers, though. Bonobos, for example. Females will exchange sex for food and other favors. My wife and I had dinner with Frans de Waal once. Some of his stories make you doubt that there is all that much difference between Bonobos and humans...
