actually McCain is a good budget hawk. There is plenty, I mean huge amounts of PORK in our current budget most of which was put there by bush. The amount of pork spending by the president and congress in this decade was phenomenal. If I were trying to balance the budget today I would cut down the farm bill(s), the energy bill provision for tax cuts to big oil and sharply curtail the medicare drug program to allow for bargaining. Those alone could generate much more than we need for VA spending. the problem is once these pork programs are setup cutting them is tough. But oil and gas company tax cuts- come on
