The Shia are forming a crescent of powers in the shadows that will initially extend from Iran through Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. How directly that is a threat to us or not is unknown at this point. If they are smart they will develop that power base quietly. If so, it will of course be met at some point by the power of the now developing Sunni crescent to the east which will initially extend from Pakistan through Afghanistan, Turkey, Parts of Syria and Northern Iraq. "We are the kid with his finger stuck in the dike. If we leave, who knows? Damned if we do, damned if we don't and at the mercy of enormously corrupt leaders and war and oil profiteers on all sides. I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden. btw. The brave little kid with his finger in the dike saved the entire sleeping community according to the folk tale.

Our reality is strange, complicated, filled with conflict, irony, paradox, and hard enough to struggle through without pretending to live in a parallel universe where Bush is cause and effect of every circumstance. For the first time in the history of the world, it is within our power to positively renew the conditions on this planet in a way that is beneficial for the entire human family. Let’s begin … again.
