Edwards wants to be president. Right now he is praying to win South Carolina which he won in 2004. But that is unlikely. However Edwards does have a great deal of support out there. A huge amount. So why quit when you can stay in and either hope for a big mis-step by Obama or leverage himself in as VP? And Obama needs a guy like Edwards if he gets nominated. He needs a white southerner for sure.
