Iraq is still a total disaster. Anbar is where they concentrated the new troops plus huge bribes to Sunni warlords to assist us in rooting out Al Qaida types. That much worked. Fine.

The rest of the country is totally out of control except for a few pockets. However the Brits recently departed Basra and so far no reports of any violence there. So maybe when we leave, the Iraqis will settle down and figure out their own differences. Vietnam settled down soon after we left too. From the beginning, our very presence there has been a huge part of the problem.

There is also a huge corruption problem there whereby tens of billions of our money is being lost, stolen or squandered. The whole southern economy is said to be based on stolen oil. And Halliburton's in charge of that. It's a huge, corrupt mess and has not done the USA a single bit of good.
