May consider MM Money or ??? as Intuit has generally abandoned reasonable consumer support. Home user financial / investment software choice is so limited that they don't seem to have many competitive concerns, or care much about their reputation.

Very well said. I have always wondered where is the alternative to two mediocre offerings from MSFT and Intuit, the monopolist and the monopolist-wannabe.

Quicken has been coasting for a decade. It seems to spend most of its time trying to force customers to upgrade. They sure don't seem to be spending time on improving their product. Their new features every year are a pile of useless junk. Their investment stuff is so lame, with numerous bugs, glitches and dumb and clumsy procedures. Their handling of options and futures is pathetic.

I've got 06 but that is it. I'll never buy another Intuit product.

Yeah the same thing happened to me, I updated to 2008. So far it has been seamless, the file transfer went fine for me. So far I have only found one bug which is annoying- the renaming rules don't seem to work right for me (it doesn't seem to add them, but then they are there because when you try to add another one it says one already exists).

A few years ago I was running an old version of quicken and when it came time to do my taxes, the quicken was too old and wouldn't let me update- I didn't want to be in that position again.

I will say one thing though, other than adding a "paypal" account type, there is absolutely *nothing* fundamental that they added which is of any use to me... on the technical side you can create PDFs from quicken reports, that is something meaningful.

They maxed out on features in 2005 or before which is why I never upgrade.
