Yes, I think that anyone who enters into an activity that will almost undoubtedly cost him his life, is by definition brave.

That is an interesting viewpoint. I think of the actor (Ledger?) that just was found dead from drug overdose. Maybe he didn't realize the risk. But then there are suicides -- they seem to qualify in your definition. I've never thought of suicide as a brave act.

Maybe this is existential, in the final analysis. If some people do not fear death at all .... does that detract from the bravery of their actions?
