He was 55 years old, 5`8",260lbs without a muscle in his body.I said sure,i figured he would come to the gym with me 2 or 3 times and i would never see him again. He showed up for 7 months ,everyday! How do you stop a person from hurting themselves after 30 years of zero exercise? This was the tough part. I started him on weight training just using the bars with no weights. Within 3 weeks his pencil thin arms were developing forearms, biceps, triceps. I had to keep on him to not increase the weight he was lifting. A very common mistake at all gyms. For weight loss i started him on a treadmill at 3 miles per hour with the incline @33%! On the treadmill you have to sweat to lose weight. In 7 months he got down to 180lbs,with a zeus like figure. He did this for his sons wedding. At the wedding his son informed me i would never see his father again. I told him his dad was transformed and felt to good to fark it up. The son was correct, his dad stoppped showing up. I was amazed he had quit working out. A year later i ran into him, he has gained 100 lbs. I lost my temper and started screaming at him. WTF? We are all our own worst enemies. Keep up the good work. I just had my annual physical. My blood pressure is 114 over 72. My resting heart rate, 3 minutes after climbing 3 flights of stairs is 60. My resting heart rate when i wake up is 39 to 42. My CRP is .8 My numbers are getting better as i get older.WTF!?! As far as <<my goal is to increase my 8/6/4 three set bench program (45 seconds between lifts) 5 lbs a month. that would put me at a respectable 205 lbs 8/6/4 by next january. i'm 158.6 lbs>> For most this is impossible no matter how much you train. Very few can bench 25% more then their body weight, you need good genetics . I have trained with a lot of the Patriots over the years and as they lose weight their bench presses go down pound for pound.
