many people can envision themselves chatting over a beer with McCain but can not see it happening with Romney.

The MSM has treated McCain as good as they treat a Dem Pol. It will be interesting to watch them turn on him if it gets down to McCain vs Clinton or Obama.

You have to remember their number one goal is to make sure a Dem gets elected. I used to feel a little paranoid saying this, but not after watching their behavior with Bush in 04 on the Swiftboats and Rathergate.

One answer that was given was that people vote for the guy that they could see themselves having a beer with at a bar.

If people are using this as a guide for President, we're going down the tubes.........actually, it's already happened, we just don't know it yet.

Those would probably be the same people who think that the media will continue to support McCain once he's a Democrat-in-Name's opponent.

We're heading for another Dole/Clinton race.
The primary difference is that, this time, on most issues that affect the true middle class, there will be no difference regardless of who wins.

Look for a slightly re-packaged immigration bill to be crammed down the throats of the public, regardless of their desires.

Look for significant tax increases.

Look for anti "global warming"/ errr...climate change proposals that impair our competitiveness.

Expect a run at healthcare, which will just make it more expensive OR less accessible for most Americans. (Here's a podcast on the various proposals: pwc.com

<edit: another page with the comparisons: pwc.com;

I think the same thing is true in 2008 - many people can envision themselves chatting over a beer with McCain but can not see it happening with Romney.

Then there's the talk about who would you prefer to vote for? Someone like the guys you work with, or someone like the guy who lays them off (Romney). McCain is neither. He's the guy who takes his meals in the Senators only dining room in the Capitol.
