It seems like a pretty crappy way to live your life- having so many people be rude to you. I mean I was only with the woman for a few hours.

On the other hand we can all celebrate that no one tried to lynch her, and no one threw anything at her. Ok, I'll eat a piece of cake over that- but I'd say what she is dealing with is more than a vestige. I sure wouldn't think it was a vestige if it was me putting up with that.

I listened to NPR on my way in to work this morning. They where talking about Lebanese immigrants. One of them was a kid at the time (not sure if he was an immigrant or was born here), and he talked about how when he was a kid he was "too dark to play with the white kids, and too light to play with the black kids", fortunately thoughts like that aren't the norm anymore.
