Strains on a marriage are going to be greater when there is no one taking care of the home. Men, most of them, still expect a certain amount of care, and women are the caregivers. Most men still expect their wives to take primary care of the children. Now despite the image of the Enjoli woman who can "bring home the bacon, and cook it up in a pan, and never let him forget he's a man"- today's serial monogamy, and the loosened bonds of divorce, are due in great part (imo) to the myth that women can support the kids just like the man can, so she is more disposable and need not be protected, and that we're all equal now, and so divorce should be easy, and the fact that women have children really shouldn't matter. It's a nice myth, but it doesn't work- unless you don't have children, then it works fine. But if you want a healthy new generation, you need another system.

It all seems highly related to me. And lots of the books I read relate these things.
