Working women contribute a good chunk of the GDP. At this point not working is not an option, given our debts and future obligations -- e.g. my social security and Medicare <g>.

An alternative system would be generous, state subsidized time off for work during the first one or two years after the birth of a child, followed by high quality, state subsidized day care until school age, followed by high quality state subsidized after school care until high school age.

In the not too distant future, when we hit peak people, we will realize how precious children are. Anybody that has more than two in the current environment is a hero in my view.

Syb, what has come of the 'terrorist' congressman you posted on? I never heard or read anything more on it.

I guess the media didn't bother to pick up on it with all the election stuff going on??

Now despite the image of the Enjoli woman who can "bring home the bacon, and cook it up in a pan, and never let him forget he's a man"

I never bought that. I thought the movement was about choice. Choice happened. The Enjoli myth, not so much. Perhaps you are misdirecting your blame. The Enjoli myth seems a better target to me than equal opportunity for women. Perhaps some effort should go into education on making choices.
