And it's possible that after his 2000 experience in South Carolina, McCain may think twice about trying to ream out someone else with unfounded garbage.

It won't be McCain himself that will attack. It will be shadowy third-party people in 527s. Those millionaire and billionaire people who hate paying taxes because it's "their" money, as Bush so "eloquently" put it in '00.

It won't be McCain, Dale. It will be the 527s, Fox and talk radio.

My prediction is that McCain will position himself as 'above the fray' and even chide the most viscious of the 527s and thus appear statesmanlike.

Maybe one had to live out here in the middle of American to see more clearly how the right-wing machine, i.e. the conspiracy, works.

You seem to think the Clintons brought on/deserved the attacks.

Do you think Bill Clinton 'lost' Congress to the Republicans in 1994, i.e. was responsible?

Or do you see the loss of Congress as the logical part of a tidal wave that Clinton and the Democratic party was unable to stop?

If the garbage makers decide they want McCain rather than Obama, and I suspect they will, McCain will have absolutely no control over this process. They can ignore whatever he wishes. With impunity. As they say.
