So re gold you don't like ASA, only CEF and GLD?

re JOF it ain't easy finding stocks to go long right now, but I think that one is OK. I have to wait, though, given my new strategy... How about NYT, the New York Times?

Also, I may be crazy, but I think there has to be some sort of play on all the carnage in the ABS CDO market, given how toxic they are right now. The only CEF I can find with a lot of exposure (as far as I can tell) is RMA (+RMK). Is this a crazy idea? I don't doubt that real estate will go down quite a bit and I also don't doubt that a lot of these securities were mispriced significantly when they were sold. Also, lets say we do go into an inflationary spiral. At some point those toxic CDOs (or whatever) are no longer backing a house that is worth 30% less than what was paid. I dunno- I'm mostly stuck on the fact that companies are writing these CDOs off at 25% of par.
