Ted is no more "in" education than I was when I was in High School.

Ok, I voted. I voted McCain, my wife voted Ron Paul. This is the first time in my life I voted for someone endorsed by NY Times...

Everything bad is the GOP's fault Ten. It's common knowledge now.

Ted, so in short, you're saying the following:

- Teachers are underpaid and underappreciated.

- Schools have become virtual day-care centers.

- The breakdown of the family structure is causing all sorts of havoc.

- It's the GOP's fault.

In part. In part its everyone's fault. The GOP has done everything it can to demonize public schools and teachers. At the same time, its become difficult to manage raising a family on one income. That means parental control has weakened, putting more of a burden on teachers.

Its really popular to criticize teachers and public schools on this board. I don't think many of their critics understand the sacrifices they endure to teach. Its why turnover among teachers is so high. It shouldn't have to be that way. One would think we would pay the educators of our children a living wage.
