Tench,

No chance of McCain / Huckabee. Conservatives are already infuriated by McCain, Huckabee would make things worse.

If I were McCain, I would pick Dick Armey, one of the leaders of '94 revolution, with solid conservative credentials, and also with solid credentials on economy. That would calm down the conservatives, and unify the party.

Joe

The press has been picking on Romneys religion. That really hurt him. OTOH, they have been giving Huckabee a pass. If Huck is on the ticket they won't give Huck a pass because Romney will be long gone.
The little deal in West Virginia suggests Huck would get the nod as V.P.. Hucks from a southern state (McCain will need those southern States because the ones he won to get the nomination, the NE and California are going to likely go Dem). Plus Hucks a Washington outsider, makes sense.
Guiliani is probably touted for Homeland security should McCain win. I dunno what Arnold gets for his endorsement.

Clinton/Obama sounds like a dream ticket for Hillary. She'll lose some black support if she beats out Obama but may get some back if she picks Obama as V.P.

McCains gonna get blasted on the war. This is his problem, he comes off as the little General looking to pick a fight.
Immigration, not much different than Hillary. Taxes...he's better than Hillary but Obama is worse than either.
Pretty obvious to me that McCain doesn't know jack about the economy. But he does want to cut spending, we know that never happens though.

If Hillary and Obama can keep it on the economy and the war. They have a really good chance of McCain ending up like Dole.
Next old pub in line for the nomination.
