The Tories in fact did give in to British rule, Tim. (That may be a better choice of words because you are right....they had ALWAYS had had British rule AND British taxation, and British laws. The early Colonists had been here for about 150 or so years, and still the Colonies had NO representation, so they were effectively slaves. When the Government takes more than 50% of our income, and then some, we are starting to identify with the soon to be "New Americans."
