Poodles are incredibly intelligent dogs with great personality. Have you ever watched "The Dog Whisperer?" It's on one of the cable channels - Discovery possibly. It's about this fellow, Caesar Milan, who goes into the homes of people who are having issues with their dog(s). He retrains the dog and the people, usually with great effect. He had one episode of a dog just as you describe yours. The dog would snap at the husband and not want him on the bed. After about 2 weeks, Caesar had him straightened out.

When we get our new dog, the rule will be, not allowed on furniture, including beds.
