Maybe that's true but then its up to the banks to do their due diligence and say NO rather than blindly extend credit to a borrower that is getting in over their head. This is totally and completely sloppy lending practices.

It's my understanding Congress is to blame. They relaxed the banking laws in order to make it possible for "everyone" to buy a house. That's what triggered the housing bubble.
