It's time to ditch the whole catalytic converter business which costs a fortune and is not as effective as other means of providing a low emissions exhaust.

Cars running on LPG are low emissions. Lean burn engines are very efficient and have very low emissions, even when they are cold. Catalytic converters take a while to start working and in short journeys in cold winters, they don't work.

Catalytic converters are extra weight, extra cost, extra hazard [ignition source for spilled fuel].

When platinum is cheap, perhaps they are an improvement.

Little engines running on methane, propane, butane, pentane, octane are better than big engines running on benzene rings and catalytic converters.

Cities should have vehicles running on fuel made for cities.

Diesel engines and their sooty fuel are the biggest problem in cities.

It's time to stop using platinum.
