You're trying to remake the founders profile into your own image. It doesn't work. They believed in "certain inalienable rights endowed on us by OUR CREATOR, among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

If believing the US founders were godless men is necessary for your pursuit of happiness, go for it. However, don't try to win converts to your revisionist version of US history...ain't gonna happen.

In the following quotes Jefferson constantly refers to each person's relationship(or not) with OUR CREATOR. That proves he believed both in a God, and separation of church & state.
Example:
"I have ever thought religion a concern purely between our God and our consciences, for which we were accountable to Him, and not to the priests." --Thomas Jefferson to Mrs. M. Harrison Smith, 1816. ME 15:60
