What was your deductible?

It depended on the policy, its not something you set in your search, you plug in the sex and age of the people and the zip code, and how many are smokers and you get a list of possible policies from different insurers. But you could get a reasonable to low deductible for a lot less than $10k/year, almost anywhere in the country (maybe not in New York State, but that is because of New York's policies which push up health care insurance costs).

Also if the idea is to insure against risk it makes sense to have a fairly high deductible. The health care cost situation would be better if most people had high deductible policies.
