"we couldn't identify psychotics or people with mental illness histories or on meds. They have rights."

Shouldn't psychotic or people with mental illness have rights?

Loosening the privacy laws surrounding medical records wouldn't do a do a damn thing to lessen gun violence.

Any child in rough end of town all over America could have his hands on a gun in minutes if so inclined. For those less connected it might take a few hours. Thats thanks to the NRA.

There is very solid reasoning behind the concept of privacy concerning medical issues - if you can't see that then your a moron.

I suppose you think anyone who has taken a mild anti-depressant for a period of time should be shunned and tarred and feathered and ridden out of town. The only trouble with that concept is it would involve tens of millions of people. You wouldn't have enough tar or feathers.

I find it useless that the fact this Illinois guy may have stopped taking a medication is getting more press that the fact he was also a great supporter of "gun rights".

The NRA is against psychiatric background checks because half their membership are nut cases or potential ones. The NRA is in the business of making billions by flooding society with firearms, especially the expensive kind which are quasi combat weapons. They have nothing to do with hunting rifles, they are in the business of proliferating weapons to efficiently kill people in society, and they are against psychiatric background checks because many in their crowd are psychos. After all, what kind of person needs 20 automatic weapons at home? A psycho who is probably deranged in one way or another.
