Feb. 22 - Shi'ite leader Moqtada al-Sadr declares a further six months truce - but demonstrates the militia is still ready for action.

The powerful Shi'ite cleric extended his Mehdi Army militia ceasefire by around six months, according to a statement read out on his behalf in a mosque in Baghdad.
