I got lost for a moment; I thought this was the FADG thread. That's OK. LOL. That's the old American "Can't Do" spirit. Don't ya just swell with pride when you say "We can't do it"? Yes, it was fully five years ago that those pesky commies mandated that every car on the road (as opposed to fleet averages, as U.S. automakers get away with) get at least 38 mpg, to be increased to 43 in 2008 - 22 percent higher than what our "landmark" achievement won't accomplish until after the next three presidential administrations, and still far short of what many 50-60 mpg European cars can already achieve and all well short of what modern technology could accomplish if we had the slightest bit of nerve and Big Auto wasn't so appallingly gluttonous and the GOP didn't have raw, reeking crude where their humanity used to be. sfgate.com 2005 Honda Insight 61mpg Prius 60 mpg. And maybe ax the same for hydrogen...which comes from someplace, either water or a CH source, and requires twice the energy to make that you get out of it. Only good for a place like Denmark with an excess of hydro and geothermal power. Another gvt sop to big business. We will be an electric economy in 2050; we really don't have a choice.
