The NY Times story is true and it exposed a side of McCain not many people knew about, that he is literally in bed with lobbyists, or at least wants to be if they are sexy blondes.

Jason Blair was a minor scammer who fooled the NY Times with a few human interest story articles which turned out to have been fabricated. He was quickly fired.

The McCain article was worked on for three months by the NY Times's four top investigative reporters. It was sourced, and supported by the Weaver claim yesterday, proving that McCain had a way-too-cozy relationship with a sexy female lobbyist and her client Paxton Communications. McCain took $85,000 from them, escorted the sexy lobbyist around and did special (and illegal) favors for them at the FCC. That was all reported by CNN after an in-depth examination of the facts. Furthermore, three former McCain aides, including We3aver have said that they had to intercede to try and keep Iseman away from McCain because they fears a relationship which could ruin his campaign. The article also reminded us McCain was clearly corrupt during the Keating 5 scandal so when he claims he has never done anything dishonorable he is lying.

So attacking the NY Times doesn't work except amongst those on the far right who distrust all credible newspapers and get their "news" from rightwing opinion/propaganda sources like Rush Limbaugh.
