In a sample size of ten, one percent has no meaning.

In this case were are talking about a sample size of 300 million. One percent or 3 million is very relevant.

John was talking about the 3 million at the top having as much wealth as 165 million on the bottom. Those are statistically very meaningful numbers. A lot of the middle class is in the 165 million.
