One concern I would have with COW is whether it is actually replicating the performance of its target index. I can't find a chart of the index, which is the livestock sub-index of the Dow Jones-AIG Commodity index.

Some of these commodity ETFs that are trying to match the performance of futures contracts have been failing badly. They are plagued with high expenses and I have heard that other traders take advantage of them when they have to roll over their contracts on a scheduled basis.

Simplified.. it's familiar theme.. The cure for low prices is low prices..

The high grain prices (feed) forced out, is forcing out a lot of little fry.. selling @ a song.. at some point... the bet is not too far into the future... supply will diminish.. a lot.. and pricing power returns for those that were strong enough to weather the storm..
