Hi John,

The fringe radicals need to be taken to task by decent Democrats like you. Obama doesn't need this kind of stuff to get elected. Unless something dramatic happens, in all likelyhood he's going to win the nomination against McCain.

I'm concerned with after that point. If he gets there taking the high road, maybe we can pull back from this ugly cycle of politics of personal destruction period.

Heck, let's debate ideas without these kind of shananigans coming into play. I would love to see America have an honest debate about Social Security, Taxes, Foreign Policy, our Energy Policy, Illegal Immigration and Health Care. Healthy debate is what this country needs, not mudslinging cropped pictures and sick-em tabloid journalism.

We may be on opposite sides of the fence in regard to policy prescriptions in these areas, but that doesn't mean we have to hate eachother. We're all Americans and should remember how much we care about our country first. I know you believe these same things. We just need to convince a few million others.

Obama and his supporters missed a perfect opportunity recently. Condemning the N.Y. Times for obvious tabloid journalism would have been real "change". Mathews and other Democrats are on the tube still fueling the fire and justifying this garbage. The only ones they will listen to are fellow Democrats or their Democrat leaders. Thus far I see and hear very little condemnation.

And that's a shame, because, whether you want to defeat McCain or not, he's a decent person who has given a lot to our country.
