I imagine that is some pretty rough flying. I know we always get buffeted when clearing the Rockies on our way to Vegas and that is at 35K feet.

I use to fly Boston to LAX and we always had the seat belt sign on over the Grand Canyon and most of the Rockie MTN. It almost always was very turbulent even in jets.

Back in 1995, I flew commercial up to Anchorage then down to Sitka. I cooled my heels in Sitka for two days waiting for a buddy to come in with his longliner fishing boat. I met him down at the fuel dock and we cut out across the Gulf of Alaska headed for Seward. 2 1/2 days later, we docked in Seward, where I spent a day or two. Then I went down to the airport and picked up a flight to Anchorage - I recall it was a little single engine plane, a Cessna no doubt. It was a pretty impressive flight, up and over the mountains on the Kenai Penninsula.
