"I don't understand your point. The British where not in Iraq for 100 years or close to 100 years." They were there for 37 years. To keep the peace between the Sunnis and the Shia, they had to have significantly more troops on the ground than we currently have. When they no longer could afford it, they had to leave. The British had far more experience than we have in doing that sort of thing.
