A potentially positive spin on this is story is that GM plans on settling just in time, and is simply using the opportunity to wind down excess truck inventory. Only the GM board dudes know for sure

GM shuts down 3 more plants as American Axle strike impact widens


General Motors is shutting production at its Fort Wayne, Flint and Oshawa truck assembly plants around midnight because of parts shortages caused by the United Auto Workers strike at American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc., a GM spokesman confirmed today.
