I think it's important to recognize the shortfall on both sides. I thought Bob's categories were at the very least a good first cut. I'm looking forward to his mirror examples. If you have a different set of categories, I'd like to see those, too.

As I said to Bob, in my view it's much less about left-right stuff, than approaches to discussions about policy and politics.

In Bob's case, if he is trying to initiate a conversation, the use of term "looney left" to describe, apparently, folk who disagree with him and he doesn't know, hardly advances a conversation.

Let's see what he means by that.

I don't know. There seems to be a lot more evidence that global climate change may have significant negative consequences than there is to support the idea that a few thousand radical muslims are going to take over the world.
