if the aldi store referred to here is the same one i remember, they are just TERRIBLE 'discount' grocery stores....i went into one years ago to check it out, bought a few items left, never to return...

i was surprised to see it is the same company that owns trader joes (also one of my favorites as well)

theres a new Tosco store called fresh and easy that is supposed to be TJs first competition. You have those down there and they are coming up here, what do you think?

I am from California, a friend and former colleague of Peter V., and also a longtime fan of Trader Joe's. We moved to North Carolina in 2005. The first TJ's in central NC went in in Cary about a year ago, and it was mobbed at first, and merely packed now. The second TJ's store in central NC is in Chapel Hill, and it is packed every day. Great business. I would buy shares in an instant too if they were offered to the public.
