Bob, if you wish to be fatalistic about GW, I don't wish to get in your way. That's fine. Everyone to their own persuasion here. But you should not insist that view has any scientific credentials. It's stoicism. Fine. But the scientific community has gathered itself around a call for action based on (a) warning the population of the dangers, (b) trying to assign some time line probabilities to various scenarios, and (c) trying to propose a variety of actions. For my own money, I think it's critical to try to address this at the political level. And that's precisely what folk like Al Gore and others are doing. Trying to raise awareness, the better to make political action possible. I gather from your point of view, it's hopeless. But it's certainly based on science. The best kind. And, dare I say based on that horribly overused word these days, "hope." Ouch!! Can't believe an old cynic like myself just used it.
