I actually took a course in multivariate analysis. I wish I could remember how we used calculus in that class. I remember the derivatives, and I've never forgotten the cylinder filling problem. But I've never had occasion to use any of it. I think calculus might be best taught to those who need it, when they need it. If I were to need it now, I'd have to relearn it- unless you just wanted me to fill a cylinder with some liquid, of course...
