Single natural resource in the hands of Latin state? DISASTER! I pray Brazil never ever find lots of oil. Only enough for us to use and a few barrels to sell.

A plethora of parasites gravitate around the oil resource. Petrobras was like that before sold a part of it, ended monopoly and professionalized management.

State-ownership of single natural resource is the worst thing one can imagine. Mexico is case in point. Now it will *suffa! **Wahalla, big one awaits them.

China ***choped all the maquilladora. Remained water melon harvesting in Elroy's state. Governing elite didn’t give a dam about people or industry because they were choping oil money.

*Suffa is west African for suffer.
**Wahalla is problem.
***Chop is to eat. Chop-chop is food.

gold ultra short

Comrade, is everything OK?

You have strayed from the orthodox party line, meriting a chiding and mild ideological re-education.

I am stunned to see 'gold' and 'short' in the same sentence from you. To add 'ultra' to the mix is astonishing, momentous and earthquaking. Instead of 'gold,' it should be 'Yen.'

Sure, gold will fiddlefart around the psychologically important 1K barrier for a while, the IMF sales will be snapped up as their sheer volume drops the price a bit, but then gold's relentless march upward will continue as the Yen takes its medicine, the US markets tank, Citi [or some other i-bank or national bank] goes into BK, BurnUndKaput drops confetti like a madman, 3/18 meeting results in 75 basis point cut, CDS counterparties default, etc., etc., ad nauseum, all or goodly part of which is guaranteed to occur, but most likely is BurnUndKaput's printing confetti like a lunatic, which is guaranteed to push gold higher and higher.

Whoever tried to manipulate gold yesterday seems to have shot his wad. Watch the last 30 minutes of US share trading to see if this will continue.

You are a brave man to ultrashort gold in this environment. I have been buying it and the Swissie.

Now they've found the damn thing. I hope they refine it and only sell to countries that imports 20% of ethanol for every barrel of gasoline they import.
