Public utilities or private utilities for that matter, are monopolies due to economies of scale.

Individual health care providers do not need economies of scale.

I may look at this differently than you in large part because everybody in my family but me are health care providers. They are not faceless cogs in a machine to me.

My dad, who was a dentist until he retired, quit taking medicaid patients because they never brushed their teeth, did not even do the basics in taking care of themselves.

The mentality of dependence left them unable or unwilling to care for themselves in even so basic a task.

Depending on the government for my medical needs is not something I believe to be a Good Thing. Been there, done that when I was young and stupid, and it really, really sucked.

Anybody else use government provided health care besides me? How did it compare to privately provided health care for you? Let's see a show of hands.

Because if you haven't done both you're just blowing smoke.
