I was confused by something I heard yesterday.

My mother-in-law was telling me that where she lives in one of those "active retirement communities", somehow ONLY the Republican party provided a place at the clubhouse to vote. If you were a Democrat, you had to go somewhere else.

Does this mean that each party is responsible for providing its own site?? I thought precincts were run by the local govt. FOr instance when I voted, they asked me if I wanted the REp or Dem ballot. If you were a Dem and went to RObson Ranch's clubhouse, you couldn't vote. Only Rep.

So I wondered how they could make something more accessible for one party over another legally. And if it wasn't an official precinct, then how the heck could that be a legal vote?

Suma, I think you may be overly afraid of the influence of the Limbaugh types.

First, I believe their influence is on the wane. Even the most ardent followers know in their heart of hearts that the republican ideals as espoused by talk radio has not worked out. They see the failures of the Bush administration even as they continue to try and defend the Bushies.

More importantly, I think, is to keep your eye on the record turnouts of voters in the Dem primaries. Even if you throw out the numbers of supposed crossover votes, you have record turnouts. This bodes well for either Obama or Hillary.

In addition, the attacks on Hillary are same-o (sp?), same-o. People have heard this stuff for years and it doesn't carry the weight it once did. Obama, however, is a new punching bag. If he's the candidate, the Limbaughs of the world will rip the bark off him in record time.
