Very scary-- I am thinking in sync with you.

Don't know if you've talked with your brother recently, but we had an inch of snow two days ago, and now we are going to get more tonight! ANd it is COLD. Yesterday it was in the 60s, now the 30s. Texas weather is so exciting.

I talked to mominlaw this evening, my expert on all things to do with growing old. I was telling her about our discussion on health care, and she immediately said, but the gov't can't run anything well. So I asked if she had ever had problems with Medicare, and after a thoughtful pause, she said, "Well, no. It's the doctors who take advantage of it." Then she gave some anecdotal evidence of what she felt was overbilling. After she realized the difference, we both agreed that considering the size of the program, Medicare is rather amazing.
My dadinlaw died a month and a half ago at 83--- and has been ill for many years, and she couldn't name a single bad incident with Medicare, only with the supplementals.
So you have a very strong point.
