That's not true.
The opposite has been proven over and over.

But have a nice day anyway.

Did I post who wrote the post?

No, but why not? I recognized it as coming from the PfP thread (by LindyBill himself if I remember right). And I think most people on the View from Left of Center thread would have recognized where the quote came from too since PfP is the best political thread on SI and is so widely read including by View from Left of Center types (your commenting/mocking on a post from there is a nice illustration of that point). I don't see any merit in not posting a link to the post you are quoting/commenting/mocking particularly when everyone knows who and where it came from. Why not be honest and open?

I'm glad you have this *open* thread

Me too. Being able to express one's opinions freely is great.

A person can ban and "ignore" people they don't like, but they just can't silence them.

It makes a difference, at least to me, whether a poster is clearly personal, or simply talking about ideas.

Your way of covert commenting just seems sneaky and underhanded to me, rather than "polite". Ideas are expressed by people. When you mock an idea, particularly when you quote a statement someone else made doing it, its gonna be taken as mocking the person who said it one way or another. To pretend otherwise seems foolish.

I'm sorry you (and others) have never gotten that. It's made for a very sad lack of communication between us.

Actually, you do communicate with me and others on this thread. And not just with this post. You read this thread as well as PfP and covertly comment. So does Baker and others. When I and others here comment on things you and others on the View thread say we do so openly and straight forwardly. You just wish we didn't comment at all.

All in all, thats a funny way of communicating but you can't deny communication is taking place.

if that ever happens, I look forward to long interesting discussions, where we meaningfully share our very different points of view.

Thanks for giving me a laugh so early in the day. Long experience has taught me that real sustained disagreement (w/o an undue amount of butt-kissing, back-patting) with you inevitably ends up being framed by you as a "personal attack", being told "I don't like you" .."never post to me again" blah blah blah ... followed by an unsolicited post to the hated one a month or two later.

-------------------------------------------------------

BTW, the problems and failures of socialism are well known. Capitalism otoh is great at giving people what they want as affordably as possible. Its just that what people want and what others think they ought to want may be two different things.

-------------------------------------------------------

Lastly I will point out something - we are all posting on public boards here, not sending private emails. In such an environment, free public comments/replies on what we say ought to be expected.

Would you care to explain why you love to ban people and Sully doesn't have that problem?

Want to object about the age of the posts ("Do you know how long ago Sharks was?" - remember those words?)? I can start a new folder and collect your more recent ones. There are certainly no lack of them.
