When the only success the cave dwellers have is hiding osama, putting resourced into his capture is a great investment, if not the most cost effective allocation of resources. One billion in chasing cave dwellers is far more cost effective than a trillion spent on guarding whatever always leaving the 99.99999% unguarded.

Are you saying you think the President and/or the Congress have allowed the Military to call too many of the "shots"...????? Or are you saying the top Military leaders have been calling for the wrong directions? Those running that direct action piece have been provided too much power to call the long-term shots and to subordinate even - fracture - our other efforts. Do you think this is because no Westerner can really understand the Arab mindset? Or were we being too PC? Or is there anyone in the entire government (ours) who knows anything? We got Saddam and enough of his regime to clear a path to phase two and blew the opportunity. Frankly, I wouldn't know how to get to a phase 2 from here without tearing out all the corrupt national Iraqi political structure we built so far to replace what we labeled a corrupt national Iraqi political regime What really truly concerns me, and I'm pretty sure everyone else here, is IF this group in power now can't figure it out, how do we expect either one of the other who may be President and their followers, do anything better? They will pull out entirely, and then we had all better just build bunkers....we will need them.
